Welcome
from Colleen Sanderson, MS, LMHC
Counseling at Huntertown United Methodist Church is a ministry
provided by me, Colleen Sanderson, MS, LMHC.
My education entails a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Purdue
University and a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from
University of Saint Francis. Additionally, I am licensed as a Mental
Health Counselor in the state of Indiana. |
A question often asked is "Why counseling?" This question can
have two distinctly different meanings.
First, "Why counseling?" can mean why choose counseling as a
profession? And secondly, it may mean why should someone seek counseling
and what might that person expect from counseling? My aim is to answer
both of these questions in the ensuing paragraphs.
It is my belief that God provided me with the gift of counseling to serve
Him by ministering to those hurting so they can become empowered through
His Word.
Occasionally, we are faced with social and/or emotional concerns that
generate conflicts and/or questions. As a Christian Counselor, my focus
is to assist in the healing process by providing a safe, confidential,
and spiritually based atmosphere. Whereby, the individual is free to work
toward wholeness.
If you are experiencing any of the following, counseling may be beneficial:
- excessive sleeping
- school-related concerns
- relationship problems
- recent loss or death of a loved one
- excessive anxiety
- parenting concerns
- difficulty concentrating
- excessive anger
- feelings of sadness or loneliness
Counseling at Huntertown United Methodist Church serves individuals, children,
adolescents, couples, and families.
Fees, which are nominal, are determined by the household income and family
size.
