Core Values
Prayer is the most important thing we do; everything is to be covered
in prayer.
Worship Evangelism is the second most important thing we do. We
want to usher the unbeliever into the presence of the One who inhabits
the praises of His people. (Psalm 22:3 KJV)
The Bible is our final authority on matters of faith and godly life-style.
While we are committed to sound doctrine, we will always live in
the spirit of the maxim--in essentials, unity; in non-essentials,
liberty; in all things, charity (love).
Ministry Teams are more important than committees.
We are a “Permission-Given” church. (If you have an
idea today, you can do it tonight and tell us about it tomorrow.)
An Empty Chair is provided at every group meeting to represent the
presence of Christ and openness to newcomers.
The five G’s should be practiced by every believer:
1. Grace (experiencing God’s grace)
2. Growing spiritually
3. Group (connecting to a growth & a ministry group)
4. Gifts (using our spiritual gifts)
5. Giving (becoming a joyful, sacrificial giver)
It is expected that those who serve on staff, in leadership and
teaching ministries will embody these fully.
Church Servant-Leaders and Teachers should embody the Biblical qualities
of a Deacon: a godly lifestyle, being a generous giver, sure in
the essentials of faith, regular in worship and group life, exhibiting
spiritual maturity in their family, and moral integrity. (1 Timothy
3:8-13)
The Spirit of Giving and Stewardship--using wisely all God’s
resources of time, talents and finances--is a sure step toward spiritual
maturity, and is expected among servant leaders. We believe the
biblical Tithe is the basis for measuring our sacrificial giving.
(Malachi 3:10 and many other verses)
We are Wesleyan-Evangelical in orientation. John Wesley preached
a heartwarming experience of Christ and growth in holiness: “We
will spread scriptural holiness across the land, beginning with
the church” and emphasize the heartwarming encounter with
Christ. We also honor the gifts people bring from other traditions.
There is harmony in God’s Kingdom among races, peoples, &
language; our church is open to all people. We will pray for our
church and community to look more like heaven.
We believe that a healthy Outward Focus in mission and evangelism
is necessary to be a healthy, growing Biblical church. The church
exists first for God’s glory, then for those outside the church,
then for its members. (Matthew 18:12, 28:18-20) Ultimately, it's
not about us.
We want to equip believers to be Ministers where they work. We are
all ministers; some are also called to be clergy and/or Elders.
The job of paid staff is to empower others in the body for ministry,
not to do the ministry for them.
In worship we will emphasize participation over presentation, and
cultural relevance over worship norms of the past. We will communicate
the unchanging message in fresh and innovative ways, utilizing multi-media
in a multi-sensory experience of the fullness of God.
We practice open communion. Any person who desires to draw closer
to Jesus Christ is welcome to participate in the Lord's supper.
We do not rebaptize any believer who has been baptized in another
church or denomination, but offer baptism renewal to all.
Other Values
We seek to be Multi-Generational. While our primary target group
for the unchurched and new residents is Boomers, we want to honor
our Seniors/Builders, Boomers, Busters, and the coming Millennial
generation, seeking to discern the kind of ministry, building and
worship that meets the needs of all ages.
We welcome a Come As You Are/Informal atmosphere, accepting both
casual and formal dress in worship.
We honor the past without being bound by it. We are future-oriented,
seeking to discern the new thing that God is doing. (Psalm 33:3,
Revelation 21:5)
We will not punish failure. It is okay to try a new idea or ministry
and fail.
We are a Second Person of the Trinity church. (We emphasize the
heartwarming experience of Jesus Christ.)
We believe the members of the church can disagree without being
disagreeable. Conflict is to be processed according to Matthew 18:15-18,
and under the leadership of the Elders. (1 Timothy 3:1-7) To this
end, anonymous communication and criticism will not be dealt with
since it fosters division and is contrary to God’s word. The
church should so conduct itself that those on the outside will marvel:
“See how they love each other.”
We seek to support Family Life where values are nourished, where
life-long singles are honored and encouraged to live godly lives,
where those who are single and desire marriage will learn to approach
marriage in wisdom, where stressed families are strengthened, and
where mature and whole couples manifest an attractiveness in marriage
that models to all the beauty of God’s intended order.
Our church will be a place of health and healing for the physically,
spiritually and emotionally wounded; that wholeness may be experienced
according to God’s will. (James 5:14-16, Mark 15-18) We believe
that God’s love brings wholeness.
We will honor the staff with adequate staff compensation for a
church like ours, believing that the “workman is worth his
wages.” (1 Timothy 5:17-18)
Our aim in growth is faithfulness to God’s call and vision
for our church, not a focus on statistical growth.
The Building is for the Body. The Church is People, Not Property.
We “thank God the kids are wrecking the building.” We
will avoid the idolatry of thinking the body/people exist to serve
the building/property.
We believe that whatever we do for God we should do well. To this
end, the church property will not be furnished with our cast offs;
music and ministry should strive for excellence; workers and leaders
should have available adequate tools with which to fulfill their
ministry. Our buildings, furnishings, landscaping and property should
compare favorably to our homes. (2 Samuel 7:1-2; Psalm 84:1)
As an active church family, most of our programs are led by volunteers
who have a heart for their ministry. Together we learn, share, serve,
laugh and thoroughly enjoy one another as we grow in our relationships
with Jesus Christ and each other. To join us, just check out the
calendar! Or you can e-mail
or call the church office for more information.
