Traditional Service
(9:45)
“Be still and know
that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
If the great traditions of our faith evoke
a spirit of worship in you and you enjoy singing the great hymns of
faith, join us at 9:45.
Using common gestures, words and songs, traditional
or liturgical worship unites us with Christians throughout the world
and across the ages. This form of worship was shaped during the early
centuries of Christianity, reaffirmed during the reformation, and
adapted to circumstances within the context of scripture and the leading
of the Holy Spirit. During the 9:45 service the great riches of our
heritage of liturgy and song is blended with contemporary elements.
Prayer, or conversation with God, is an important
part of our worship. We pray to glorify and honor God, to give thanks,
to confess and to intercede for others. There is a black binder called
our Book of Common Prayer located in the foyer outside the sanctuary,
in which you may write down any prayer concerns. We will pray for
these concerns during worship, and our prayer warriors will continue
to lift your concerns to God during the week.
The preacher for the morning brings the same
message as is given in the other two worship services.
Both the infant and toddler nurseries are available
during these services. Since this service is during the Sunday School
hour, classes are available for children starting at 2 years old.
(If you would like to attend a Sunday School
class, there is one class that meets after the Traditional Service
in the Library.)
